Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been placed in the form of a swastika, they added.
Police then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are presently not informed of any harm in association with the event," they stated.
City officials announced they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the public for tips.
A high-ranking representative commented the attack made him stunned and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
